Showing posts with the label teacher sign

Fast forward from the last Sunday Afternoon Post

Finished this off and shipped it, check!     This letters below were my favorites and newer ideas.    Can you guess what the "R" is?       These robots were programmed too.     And I added a color option to my Valentine's Quilt.      More on why it wasn't finished in time for this year later!

Put a Craft in it

A new work assignment as a classroom teacher has taken up all my brain juices even while I was "out of the craft room) so that I had no energy left for crafting or anything else for that matter . So to remedy the situation, I made this. A classroom is not complete until you put a craft in it! Full view , about 14" X 28" in size Bottom: Kids saying "Pick me" Top: classic school stuff. Colored pencils on the side Back view with loops for hanging So if you are a teacher leave a comment and say hi! Teachers are great craft aficionados !! Yay Teachers!! And Nurses too , I hear : )

Raggedy Ann & Andy Teacher Sign (Revisited)

This sign is so cute. So to get us all ready for school which is coming up soon, I decided to put all the pictures on one post. Last time each letter was scattered over several posts. Here is the story: I was assigned to co-teach in second grade with this spunky, fun and enthusiastic teacher. All the boys love her because she knows how to talk to a "little man." Anyhow, her class is dotted everywhere with Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, blocks, lamps, signs. So of course, since my mind is always reeling... I thought of making a sign for her with her name. Then as I was mulling it over, the R's in her name suddenly formed themselves as these little rag dolls in my head. Here is how it all turned out, and how the rag dolls materialized. A is for chalkbo...

Clever Letters: Finishing touches

These pictures are no fun to look at, simply mechanics, but the best is saved for last!! Here are some of the little details. I do not have pictures of how long it took me to assemble, but of course as you play with your letters, you will figure it out. It doesn't have to be straight!  Don't forget to paint the back of the letters first, makes things easier! Here  is a great place to buy letters online, if the craft store doesn't have the amount or the kind you want. The assembling of the letters is the trickiest part. Overlapping the letters depends on the design of each and which one should be showcased, (in my case the Rag Doll letters.) I assembled the letters and hot glued the ones that went in the center, top to bottom and reinforced them with miniature popsicle sticks on the back. Once I laid them out how I wanted, I traced the part of the letter that went "over" so I could put hot glue in the right place. Then I marked the 2 places in the midd...
