"To OWL a Good Night" Part 1

This is the latest "special interest" magazine that the makers of  American Patchwork & Quilting  have put out. I LOVE IT!! It's ideal because it's chock full of small one day or one weekend projects that do not overwhelm! It's actually like a compilation of what appears in Quilts & More  which comes out 4 times a year. One of these projects is definitely memorable because I thought is was so cute and looked easy enough to make but I didn't know anyone who loved owls. Well, on Thursday I was talking to friend at work, who is a great supporter and motivator for me and my crafty inclinations. She brought me a catalog full of things she thought I could make. LOL! She always encourages me with words like "When you start your own business..." and I say from her mouth to God's ears!  As it turns out, guess who loves owls? After looking in my fabric stash I had all the right colors!  (see it pays to be prepared)...

Confessions of a Fabric-o-holic

Ten,   Eleven,  Twelve reasons why I should buy more Fabric: 1. To build my current  stash   2. Here today, gone tomorrow. Fabric is like those cute sandals you  wanted last summer but didn't buy...  3. Support fellow crafters and designers of fabric 4. It's fat free, great for the crafty diet 5. It's another way to stimulate the economy 6. Preparedness is key (have everything you need for when you finally get around to doing a project) 7. To reward myself, I deserve it! 8. It's something I can post on my blog 9. Shopping and organizing are both stress busters 10. I have coupons!   11. Preserve and participate in the historical past time of Quilting 12. Provides low-cost entertainment

The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ~ Dr. Seuss , I Can Read with My Eyes Shut!      The more stores I go, the more my stash grows, And the more fabric I stowe, the more things I will sew!!   Elaine:   Confessions of a fabric-a-holic. Being a teacher/librarian I am especially drawn to fabrics reflecting story elements, characters, books and the like. This gives me an excuse to make something and display it at my workplace, in theory.  I went totally overboard when the Dr. Seuss fabric started coming out, I got it at equilter . (There are tons more available, but I find abstinence is good for the wallet.) While I am not a die hard Dr. Seuss fan, I do love the colors and mix of patterns. This summer I made this for my friend to decorate her kids' bathroom. It's a 10 X 10 mini quilt of Dr. Seuss patterns. I used some thin strips of batting I...
