Craft Room Come True!

My Craft Corner, it has more personality now and much more stuff too!   left & right sides have fabric, the middle & drawers, everything else! Who doesn’t want their own space to create? Ok, maybe only us artsy and crafty people. I remember decades ago when I had all the time in the world and no money for crafts. Then I started working and looking for a husband (LOL) and had no time.   Finally, as life began unfolding, I took advantage of the pregnancies as an excuse to make baby comforters and crib items; but, once the kids came,   you know how that went. It took 3 years to make the cross-stitch for the first baby, 6 years to finish the one for the other baby. It's no wonder since Cross-stitching was my “airplane” craft.     Out of desperation and craft anxiety, I started a “hope” closet of craft supplies in case there was a fleeting chance that, one day, I could perhaps be creative again.   It was quite an undertaking to make some

Dr. Seuss on Canvas

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ~ Dr. Seuss , I Can Read with My Eyes Shut!      The more stores I go, the more my stash grows, And the more fabric I stowe, the more things I will sew!!   Elaine:   Confessions of a fabric-a-holic. Being a teacher/librarian I am especially drawn to fabrics reflecting story elements, characters, books and the like. While I am not a die hard Dr. Seuss fan, I do love the colors and mix of patterns. This summer I made this for my friend to decorate her kids' bathroom. It's a 10 X 10 mini quilt of Dr. Seuss patterns. I used some thin strips of batting I had left over and just did giant crossstiches to bring t

Craft planning goes BLOG!

Hi. I'm Elaine, the Summercrafter. I always joke with my husband that my job gets in the way of my crafting~ he doesn't think it's so funny. For a good part of the school year, I plan my summer crafts.  I make a list of ideas, crafts and projects that I want to do in June, July and August. (Yes, I pack lots of supplies when I go on vacation.)  Many of them come from Books, UFOs (un-finished-objects) and quite a few are born in the middle of the night and have been in my head for years!  But I don't just create in the summer, I also look forward to Spring Break, Winter Recess and any other holiday during the year. The most enjoyable are the unplanned crafts I make as gifts for teachers, friends and family throughout the year. I call those "shotgun" crafts because I make those as soon as they occur to me.  So I hope you will come back and visit and tell your friends too!  I can't wait to share what I have made, what I am working on and what I am planning
