The most desirable and "have to do" pattern in the Simply Retro Book by Camille Roskelley has to be "Dwell" the quilt of houses.
Not only does she use the softest palette, but the are also fun and easy to make. In no time I practically had a neighborhood!! Okay maybe it was just a street block but you know what I mean.
I am quilting along with Jana following all the projects in the book and I can barely keep up (can you tell I'm panting?)
While I am really committed to doing each project and at minimum one block to start, I am also trying my best to use scraps for the "test run."
As you can see in my eagerness to get this together I flipped the pieces so the first house is not quite right.
Everything went along swimmingly while I pieced.
But when I started to quilt, that's another story. I always use the teal thread when I use the Dr. Seuss Fabric, it just calls for it, it's so wacky. But that meant that I had to switch from using the Aurifil thread (got mine here) to what I used to use. ; ( Then came the snags, the breakage of thread AND needle, and total frustration and aggravation and a little cursing too. See how irregular the stitches are? You would scream too.
I have been using the Aurifil for 2-3 weeks because I've heard so much hoopla about it thought I would try it. And it certainly lived up to all the fame and glamour everyone claims! Audrey and Jenny (my sewing machines) both work happily with it and without complaints whatsoever. Makes quilting all the more enjoyable!!
So this is as far as I was able to finish without harming my health or breaking something else. The white and binding are still to be done, (I think I'll do that in white Auriful) more on that later with a giveaway too!!
Such a fun project! I'm going to have to try some Aurafil thread, too...time to see what all the cheering is about. Thanks for the link to your source. Can't wait to see how your little street of houses looks when it's done. That quilting design is just right, with the loops.
